Hmmmm...I'm not sure why it won't come out in pieces. I use the toothpick test when baking a cake to make sure it is done. Parchment paper might help, but I haven't tried it that way. If you give it a try, let me know how it goes.

It is a dense cake...kinda like how pecan pie is really dense. I hope you enjoy this as much as we do!

I made this in my large oval crockpot. I placed a 6” baking pan in the bottom of the crockpot and then poured the batter into a greased 8” baking pan, which I positioned over the 6” baking pan. I essentially used the oval crockpot as a mini oven and the 6” pan served to keep the 8” pan from having to be in contact with the crockpot. It tasted great but so far it has been impossible to remove anything that resembles a piece. Should I have baked it longer? I didn’t see any instructions to indicate when they are “done”. Do you think parchment on the bottom would help? FYI, baking in an 8” pan resulted in a pie cake that was 1/2 inch deep.

Hi Kathy!

I did not put my batter in a pan. I used a 6 quart oval crock pot that I knew baked well. This piece is just cut out of the long side of the oval. While the non-traditional shaped pieces may not be quite as pretty, I promise you, they are just as yummy!

Hi StephyGee!

I haven't tried it that way, but think it should work. If you give it a try, let me know how it goes!
