Place a piece of parchment paper in your 6 quart slow cooker so that it goes up each side (so your bread doesn't stick to your insert) and turn slow cooker on high to preheat.
Dissolve your yeast in warm water (the water needs to be 105-115 degrees F) and set aside.
Combine salt, sugar and flour in a large bowl.
Add your yeast mixture and oil to your flour mixture, mixing until well combined with a lightly greased wooden spoon.
Oil your hands lightly and knead for approximately 5 minutes (It is ready to form into a round loaf when it is smooth and elastic).
Form into a round loaf and place in the middle of the parchment paper.
Place a couple paper towels under your lid and place your lid slightly angled so that some of the moisture can escape, but the heat will be retained.
Cook for 1 hour and 15 minutes to 2 hours on high, checking after an hour of cooking, rotating insert if slow cooker doesn't cook evenly, and keeping close watch the first time you make it to learn how quickly your specific crock pot cooks it. (The internal temperature of the middle of the loaf should be right around 195 degree F.)
If a crispy crust is desired, brush top of loaf with melted butter and place on a cookie sheet on the middle shelf with broiler on high for approximately 1 minute (watching continually) to crisp the crust and make it lightly golden.
Place on a cooling rack and slice once the loaf is cool enough to handle.

Notes
Watch the bottom of your loaf closely the first time you make it so it doesn't become too brown. Once you know how your unit cooks the bread, make a note on your recipe to reference for future use.

As with any of our recipes, carb counts, calorie counts and nutritional information varies greatly. As a result, your nutritional content depends on which products you choose to use when cooking this dish. The auto-calculation is just an automated estimate and should NOT be used for specific dietary needs.
All slow cookers cook differently, so cooking times are always a basic guideline. Recipes should always be tested first in your own slow cooker and time adjusted as needed.
