  • 5 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 head cabbage chopped
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground breakfast sausage
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup quick cooking barley
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon hot sauce

Instructions

  • Put your cabbage in your crock pot (5 quart or larger) and set off to the side
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, brown your meat with your onion, drain and put back in your skillet

  • Combine well and use a spoon to ladle over your cabbage in your crock pot
  • Cover and cook on low for 8-9 hours (give it a good stir before serving)

Notes

  • This soup makes a lot, so I would recommend at least using a 5 quart slow cooker or bigger.
  • This is a great way to use our Make Ahead Ground Beef and make this a dump and go recipe.
  • This is a great all day recipe for those that need longer cooking times. If you are short on time pop it over to high and cook for 5 hours.
  • All slow cookers cook differently, so cooking times are always a basic guideline and should¬†always be tested first in your own slow cooker and time adjusted as needed.
  • As with any of our recipes, calorie counts and nutritional information varies greatly depending on which products you choose to use when cooking this dish.
