As with any of our recipes, carb counts, calorie counts and nutritional information varies greatly. As a result, your nutritional content depends on which products you choose to use when cooking this dish. The auto-calculation is just an automated estimate and should NOT be used for specific dietary needs.
All slow cookers cook differently, so cooking times are always a basic guideline. Recipes should always be tested first in your own slow cooker and time adjusted as needed.
This is not a recipe to try out on your new crock. Use your tried and true, favorite crock pot that you know cooks evenly and does not cook hot or cool. A hot cooking slow cooker will make your rice mush. A cool cooking slow cooker will not cook your rice as quickly. Hot spots will give you some over cooked rice while the other rice is undercooked.
For this recipe, you will want to use long grain long cooking rice. If you use minute rice, it will turn to mush before the recipe is done. An easy way to see if the rice you have is long cooking is to look at the cooking time on the back of the package. If it can be cooked in 5 minutes, that is not the right kind. Look for the one that takes about 15-18 minutes to cook.
