In a heat safe glass bowl that fits in your 6 quart crock pot, mix together all of your ingredients, except the optional whipped cream, until well combined
Place the bowl in your slow cooker and fill the slow cooker insert with water approximately half way up the outside of the bowl containing your ingredients (aka the double broiler method)
Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours or on high for 1.5-2 hours, stirring once or twice while cooking and stirring well once done cooking
If desired, serve topped with whipped cream
