We use cocktail onions and bacon bits to make this a dump and go recipe. You can fry up regular bacon and crumble and slice up a yellow onion instead if you would prefer.
You will need a large slow cooker 6 qt or larger to hold all your beans.
If you are using fresh beans from the garden you will want to wash and trim your beans beforehand. If you cannot get your hands on some fresh beans from the garden, you can oftentimes find them at the grocery store in the produce aisle.
