Spread your potato slices evenly across the bottom of a casserole crock pot or 6 quart crock pot.
Place your ham steak on top of your potato slices.
Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours or high for 2.5-3 hours.
Halfway through cooking, use tongs to place your ham steak on a plate and use a fork to stir your potatoes (bring the potatoes from the outside to the inside and vice versa, as well as the potatoes on bottom to the top and vice versa). Put the ham steak back on top of your potatoes, replace the lid and let it cook for the remainder of the time. It is done when your potatoes are fork tender.
