Do you like to take your slow cooker on the go with you? The makers of the Hold and Go Slow Cooker recently sent me one of their units to give a try and I have to tell you, this baby has been with me to every potluck I have been to since!
Cris here. I have a confession.ย I have a lot of slow cookers…
No really. A LOT.
Now before anyone judges me… I do run a slow cooker website and cook regularly with 3-4 different slow cookers at a time. And, I like to try new features on slow cookers to share them with you… all in the name of being a resource for you. ย **Sigh** It’s a tough job, but someone needs to do it. I am here for you ;). (And yes, I realize those shelves are extremely messy… #RealLife)
So when the folks with the Hold and Go Slow Cooker contacted me and asked if I was willing to give their unit a try, I told them they could send it but that I would only share it with you if I liked it. They accepted the challenge and sent it along. (Note: While I did receive a unit to test, I did not receive any additional payment for this review.)
When it arrived, I was traveling a lot so it sat on my floor, in the box, until one day when my girlfriend called and said she was having some folks over and asked me to bring something… And then I realized I had the perfect opportunity to give this sucker a try.
I threw in the ingredients and didn’t really think a lot more about it. Then it was time to rush out the door. I was carrying my purse, water bottle and three bags of groceries and needed to get the slow cooker to the car when I discovered the ingenious design of the Hold and Go Slow Cooker… it can be carried with one hand. Heck, it can be carried on your arm if need be while carrying additional bags.
And, we aren’t talking carried anxiously teetering on one hand. We are talking securely, swing that puppy around and that lidย ain’t going anywhere kind of one hand.
I was impressed. It was easy to operate and the lid was super secure.
Then, when I got to the party I realized the handle turned into a lid holder.
Brilliant.
Hold and Go Slow Cooker
So what are my pros and cons with this unit?
Cons
- It is not programmable ๐
- With such a brilliant traveling concept, I wish it had a cord winder or a place to wind the cord.
Pros
- The 5 qt size is perfect for a lot of dips and party foods. It also makes carrying with one hand doable.
- That handle is ah-mazing. ONE handed carrying has me sold.
- Love the lid holder.
- The unit we tried cooks true to temperature and isn’t boiling hot on every setting like some units.
- The lid securing levers are super easy to use and are very secure.
The Bottom Line
If you take your slow cooker to potlucks, family gatherings or office parties often, I would not hesitate to recommend the Hold and Go Slow Cooker.

I like to bring Italian sausages with green pepper and onion in spaghetti sauce to family gatherings. I also bring fresh rolls.
TAILGATEING CHILI
I love to take a roast to family gatherings.
Lasagna is my go to recipe!!
My favorite, easy go to dish, meatballs with sausage in BBQ sauce. Even picky eaters have loved this dish!
I love to take potato casserole and red beans
I bring meatballs for sandwiches. Would love to win the crock pot!
I LOVE my Crock Pot and what I like to bring to a party is Wassail Bowl Punch! Love it!
Thanks!
Mac and cheese
I love to bring chili, soups and gumbo for gatherings – and this would be perfect for the holidays:)
Chili is my go to potluck dish.
my favoirte is just roast/potatoes and carrots-let it cook slow, and oh the smell when you come home!
I have a spaghetti casserole that I like taking to potlucks, especially if children are there because it seems all kids will eat spaghetti with lots of cheese on top. It’s a meal in one as many times I also add corn to the casserole.
I love making meatball subs in my cockpot or homemade spaghetti sauce. Both are great for potlucks or lazy family nights.
Meatballs
This would be so handy to keep Boston baked beans to our annual car show. Feeding the crew is a big chore and this would be a great help.
Beenie weenies
Cheese dip….soup….Italian beef! Would love to win this…it’s so hard for me to get down steps holding a crock pot with both hands.
Where do I begin, the last party I did Shredded beef, and pork, and bacon & burger beans in my three unit crock. Then in my smaller three crock appetizer size I did three hot party dips, Chicken enchilada dip, pizza dip, and a bacon cheeseburger dip. Love the crock pot! Always looking for something better and user friendly. These units not very portable.
Chili!!!!
This would be amazing to have! I too have a love for crock pots and the amazing dishes they cook up. My two favorite potluck foods are easy party meatballs from Taste of Home and a tangy pulled pork to put on Hawaiian bread rolls. I would love to have a Hold & Go Slow Cooker.
I like to make sloppy joe in a crock pot. GREAT for events, parties & get-togethers! Thanks! ๐
Our family’s new favorite meal was one I picked up along the way called 7 can soup. It is made with several kinds of beans, corn, meatless chili, rotel and tomatoes. It is EASY and so, so yummy! Add some corn bread and it’s a grand meal!
Love to take veggie dishes and often take dips to family dinners and other gatherings. Sure could use this one for my great food.
