Do you like to take your slow cooker on the go with you? The makers of the Hold and Go Slow Cooker recently sent me one of their units to give a try and I have to tell you, this baby has been with me to every potluck I have been to since!
Cris here. I have a confession.ย I have a lot of slow cookers…
No really. A LOT.
Now before anyone judges me… I do run a slow cooker website and cook regularly with 3-4 different slow cookers at a time. And, I like to try new features on slow cookers to share them with you… all in the name of being a resource for you. ย **Sigh** It’s a tough job, but someone needs to do it. I am here for you ;). (And yes, I realize those shelves are extremely messy… #RealLife)
So when the folks with the Hold and Go Slow Cooker contacted me and asked if I was willing to give their unit a try, I told them they could send it but that I would only share it with you if I liked it. They accepted the challenge and sent it along. (Note: While I did receive a unit to test, I did not receive any additional payment for this review.)
When it arrived, I was traveling a lot so it sat on my floor, in the box, until one day when my girlfriend called and said she was having some folks over and asked me to bring something… And then I realized I had the perfect opportunity to give this sucker a try.
I threw in the ingredients and didn’t really think a lot more about it. Then it was time to rush out the door. I was carrying my purse, water bottle and three bags of groceries and needed to get the slow cooker to the car when I discovered the ingenious design of the Hold and Go Slow Cooker… it can be carried with one hand. Heck, it can be carried on your arm if need be while carrying additional bags.
And, we aren’t talking carried anxiously teetering on one hand. We are talking securely, swing that puppy around and that lidย ain’t going anywhere kind of one hand.
I was impressed. It was easy to operate and the lid was super secure.
Then, when I got to the party I realized the handle turned into a lid holder.
Brilliant.
Hold and Go Slow Cooker
So what are my pros and cons with this unit?
Cons
- It is not programmable ๐
- With such a brilliant traveling concept, I wish it had a cord winder or a place to wind the cord.
Pros
- The 5 qt size is perfect for a lot of dips and party foods. It also makes carrying with one hand doable.
- That handle is ah-mazing. ONE handed carrying has me sold.
- Love the lid holder.
- The unit we tried cooks true to temperature and isn’t boiling hot on every setting like some units.
- The lid securing levers are super easy to use and are very secure.
The Bottom Line
If you take your slow cooker to potlucks, family gatherings or office parties often, I would not hesitate to recommend the Hold and Go Slow Cooker.

When I go to pot-luck and family gatherings I take my prize winning (Yes I did win a prize with it -however that was years and years ago) spicy meatballs. A crock pot lets the flavors soak into the meat balls and than once there keeps them hot for serving.
Country Style Scalloped Potatoes.
I like to make bbq meatballs or sausages in my slow cooker for parties.
Swedish meatballs.
I love my slow cookers. I use them 2-3 times a week. Sometimes there bbq’s, potatoe soup or a roast with potato’s and carrots going. It makes life just a little easier where having a good hot meal and family sitting around the dinner table eating and reconnecting. Going to an event I will bring a chili cheese dip or maybe an apple crisp. I really would have a hard life without my slow cookers.
Hearty Hamburger soup, sweet and sour chicken wings, meatballs or some form of chili.
I have not tried baking in it yet.
I can take just about anything to family gatherings, made in a slow cooker. Probably will more often with this Hold and Go Slow Cooker.
Love taking bbq meatballs in mine to potlucks at church
I like to make pot roast
I love to take beef stew or vegetable soup; one with good grip on lid would be wonderful
Hearty Hamburger soup, sweet and sour chicken wings, meatballs or some form of chili.
My favorite dish to make in my crockpot is Pork Chili, but my crockpot no longer gets enough heat to cook properly. Hope I win.
My best recipe right now is my Peking Chicken. I would probably bring that to a gathering, or a breakfast casserole if it was for a morning/ lunch time.
Everyone loves my spinach queso so I take it to parties and family gatherings often. This crockpot sounds like the best!
