Do you like to take your slow cooker on the go with you? The makers of the Hold and Go Slow Cooker recently sent me one of their units to give a try and I have to tell you, this baby has been with me to every potluck I have been to since!
Cris here. I have a confession.ย I have a lot of slow cookers…
No really. A LOT.
Now before anyone judges me… I do run a slow cooker website and cook regularly with 3-4 different slow cookers at a time. And, I like to try new features on slow cookers to share them with you… all in the name of being a resource for you. ย **Sigh** It’s a tough job, but someone needs to do it. I am here for you ;). (And yes, I realize those shelves are extremely messy… #RealLife)
So when the folks with the Hold and Go Slow Cooker contacted me and asked if I was willing to give their unit a try, I told them they could send it but that I would only share it with you if I liked it. They accepted the challenge and sent it along. (Note: While I did receive a unit to test, I did not receive any additional payment for this review.)
When it arrived, I was traveling a lot so it sat on my floor, in the box, until one day when my girlfriend called and said she was having some folks over and asked me to bring something… And then I realized I had the perfect opportunity to give this sucker a try.
I threw in the ingredients and didn’t really think a lot more about it. Then it was time to rush out the door. I was carrying my purse, water bottle and three bags of groceries and needed to get the slow cooker to the car when I discovered the ingenious design of the Hold and Go Slow Cooker… it can be carried with one hand. Heck, it can be carried on your arm if need be while carrying additional bags.
And, we aren’t talking carried anxiously teetering on one hand. We are talking securely, swing that puppy around and that lidย ain’t going anywhere kind of one hand.
I was impressed. It was easy to operate and the lid was super secure.
Then, when I got to the party I realized the handle turned into a lid holder.
Brilliant.
Hold and Go Slow Cooker
So what are my pros and cons with this unit?
Cons
- It is not programmable ๐
- With such a brilliant traveling concept, I wish it had a cord winder or a place to wind the cord.
Pros
- The 5 qt size is perfect for a lot of dips and party foods. It also makes carrying with one hand doable.
- That handle is ah-mazing. ONE handed carrying has me sold.
- Love the lid holder.
- The unit we tried cooks true to temperature and isn’t boiling hot on every setting like some units.
- The lid securing levers are super easy to use and are very secure.
The Bottom Line
If you take your slow cooker to potlucks, family gatherings or office parties often, I would not hesitate to recommend the Hold and Go Slow Cooker.

My husband likes to make his famous chili beans and it’s always a hassle to take the crock pot and put it Ina box and hope it doesn’t turn over. This crock pot would be great for traveling to our family get togethers.
Cris,
Fall cattle work and slow cookers go hand in hand!
Friday we are working weaned calves and sorting cows. Chicken Tortilla soup is on the menu.
Tuesday the 10th we are ultrasounding and working cows. I’m thinking Swiss steak a/k/a Salisbury steak.
Cheesy potatoes are also a favorite slow cooker cattle working go-to dish.
baked beans
mac and cheese
Beef barley stew
I slow cook chili or beef stew for Bronco parties…..need a carrier for these get togethers.
Crockpot lasagna.
Cream Cheese, Artichoke, Spinach Hot Dip. I use chunks of hot bread to dunk instead of crackers. The whole crock pot is gone pretty fast.
I like to share my 3 bean casserole bean dish at potlucks
I like to take roasted or baked chicken with potatoes and carrots! Yummy!!!
pot roast
meatballs
Vegatable soup or barbque pork
Roast
Chocolate fondue with strawberries, angel food cake, bananas and marshmallows to dip! Yum.
Love the crockpot
I take chili to church. Jambalaya to potlucks. White chili. Black bean and pumpkin soup.
casseroles
Crockpot Mac and Cheese
Everyone’s favorite – pulled pork! I just took it to work today in my old, banged up, impossible to carry crock pot. Everybody loved it, but this crock pot sure would make sharing a lot easier!
I like to make Western Beans for any potluck or pitch I go to. It is the one thing that I always have to give out the recipe for!
This is the worst contest I have ever entered I have been trying all afternoon and evening. Just want to say my 96 yr old aunt and the neighbors loved the McCormick’s beef stew I make.
My crockpot Sausage and Au-gratin Potatoes are much requested and then much celebrated when i bring them to work food days.
Crock Pot Chili it’s so easy to make and so good.
Like many other posters, I love to bring chili or soup to potlucks. Unfortunately, they are also really messy to transport. More often than not, soup ends up leaking all over my car floor! Haven’t invested in a travel cooker yet – maybe this will be the one!
