Do you like to take your slow cooker on the go with you? The makers of the Hold and Go Slow Cooker recently sent me one of their units to give a try and I have to tell you, this baby has been with me to every potluck I have been to since!
Cris here. I have a confession.ย I have a lot of slow cookers…
No really. A LOT.
Now before anyone judges me… I do run a slow cooker website and cook regularly with 3-4 different slow cookers at a time. And, I like to try new features on slow cookers to share them with you… all in the name of being a resource for you. ย **Sigh** It’s a tough job, but someone needs to do it. I am here for you ;). (And yes, I realize those shelves are extremely messy… #RealLife)
So when the folks with the Hold and Go Slow Cooker contacted me and asked if I was willing to give their unit a try, I told them they could send it but that I would only share it with you if I liked it. They accepted the challenge and sent it along. (Note: While I did receive a unit to test, I did not receive any additional payment for this review.)
When it arrived, I was traveling a lot so it sat on my floor, in the box, until one day when my girlfriend called and said she was having some folks over and asked me to bring something… And then I realized I had the perfect opportunity to give this sucker a try.
I threw in the ingredients and didn’t really think a lot more about it. Then it was time to rush out the door. I was carrying my purse, water bottle and three bags of groceries and needed to get the slow cooker to the car when I discovered the ingenious design of the Hold and Go Slow Cooker… it can be carried with one hand. Heck, it can be carried on your arm if need be while carrying additional bags.
And, we aren’t talking carried anxiously teetering on one hand. We are talking securely, swing that puppy around and that lidย ain’t going anywhere kind of one hand.
I was impressed. It was easy to operate and the lid was super secure.
Then, when I got to the party I realized the handle turned into a lid holder.
Brilliant.
Hold and Go Slow Cooker
So what are my pros and cons with this unit?
Cons
- It is not programmable ๐
- With such a brilliant traveling concept, I wish it had a cord winder or a place to wind the cord.
Pros
- The 5 qt size is perfect for a lot of dips and party foods. It also makes carrying with one hand doable.
- That handle is ah-mazing. ONE handed carrying has me sold.
- Love the lid holder.
- The unit we tried cooks true to temperature and isn’t boiling hot on every setting like some units.
- The lid securing levers are super easy to use and are very secure.
The Bottom Line
If you take your slow cooker to potlucks, family gatherings or office parties often, I would not hesitate to recommend the Hold and Go Slow Cooker.

I usually take cheesy hashbrowns to family gatherings mostly because the host family requests that I bring them!
I love caring a bacon cheeseburger dip. Everyone loves it.
With the Holidays coming up, I make some side dishes and keep them warm in the crock pot on the way to my parents or my in laws. Namely, mashed potatoes! My 100% Italian MIL cannot cook mashed potatoes. Don’t get me wrong, she is a wonderful cook, but her mashed potatoes are the WORSE! So I make them for every occasion and transport them to her house. This would be perfect for that!
We occasionally have potlucks at work, this is a wonderful way to make and transport my pepperoni beef or my cheesy potatoes to the potluck!
Love your recipes!
My wife makes the best home made meatballs in the crock. She uses pork; turkey and beef. They are off the chain.
I would carry my cheesy rice/brocolli/cauliflower casserole!!!!
Dips and finger foods (such as wings) are always popular.
I would bring sausage meatballs, cooked in chutney & sherry. They are AUsome!!
I love to take scalloped potatos and ham. Always a hit!
I like to take homemade soups or dips to get togethers. Lots of dips!!!
I would first try my Chicken Wing dip to bring to a party in this bad boy! Thank you so much for the opportunity!!
Dips and finger foods (e.g., wings) are always popular.
I need a new crockpot as the one I use is from 1975. It’s more round than oval so it’s hard to cook a pot roast in it! I’ve been using mine a lot more since I’ve been using a great recipe for sloppy joes that are always requested at church doings and family functions.
I would love to win this as I live using slow cooker and taking them with when traveling. I like to take cheesy chicken spaghetti to potlucks or bbq meatballs..I have many others I take but those are my top 2 right now.
Thanks for the chance to win.

We always make a pot of meatballs for family gatherings
Candied sweet potatoes or turkey & dressing. Everyone loves them both.
I shared this on Pinterest! Thank you for the opportunity
My favorite potluck is my special meatballs! I think sometimes I get invited to some parties just for the meatballs! LOL!!
I either like to take my Cheesy Potatoes or Smoked Chili to functions.
Love to bring supreme mashed potatoes!! Mashed with cream cheese, sour cream and cheese on top…yummy!
I like to bring my julienne potato soup. It’s like queso with Betty Crocker julienne potatoes and Mexican corn mixed in it.
I am a retired single lady and do alot of cooking in crockpots because I can freeze meals to last me for weeks. Roast & vegetables are my favorite thing to cook in my crockpot.
I LOVE to take sloppy joes or chicken and dumplings to events, and a slow cooker with a carrying handle would be ideal!
Thanks, you have a marvelous web site!
i would make my mexican dip
