Slow Cooker Unstuffed Cabbage Soup
Ingredients
- 5 cups beef broth
- 1/2 head cabbage chopped
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground breakfast sausage
- 1 onion chopped
- 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup quick cooking barley
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon hot sauce
Instructions
- Put your cabbage in your crock pot and sit off to the side
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown your meat with your onion, drain and put back in your skillet
- Pour your broth, tomatoes (undrained) and the rest of your ingredients in your skillet
- Combine well and use a spoon to ladle over your cabbage in your crock pot
- Cover and cook on low for 8-9 hours (give it a good stir before serving)

Notes
- This soup makes a lot, so I would recommend at least using a 5 quart slow cooker or bigger. Most folks use a 6 quart.
- This is a great way to use our Make Ahead Ground Beef and make this a dump and go recipe.
- This is a great all day recipe for those that need longer cooking times. If you are short on time pop it over to high and cook for 5 hours.
