Are you looking for a recipe that is quick and delicious? Our BBQ Chicken Flatbreads are so flavorful you won’t believe how easy they are to throw together!
Cris here. When Tyson® asked me to partner with them to develop some recipes for their Tyson® Grilled and Ready® Breast Strips, I knew I wanted to try something I had been thinking about for a while– BBQ Chicken Flatbreads that are a snap to throw in the slow cooker and make a great quick meal for my busy family this fall. (Note: This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Tyson®. The opinions and text are all mine.)
So I headed over to my local Walmart and grabbed a couple of bags to try a couple different recipes out. I had a hunch that this product could help me solve two different problems. The first being when I am short on time and the second (tomorrow’s post) being when I have to stay late at a meeting and need to come home to dinner done.
I don’t know about you but with school starting back up, our schedule and specifically our meal schedule has gotten a lot more complicated. As Miss Add gets older, it feels like I am running her here, there and yonder and everyone in the family is headed in a different direction.
These flatbreads are perfect for days like this… it is simple enough that my 8 year old could put it on to cook if I needed her too and it is something the slow cooker can keep warm so everyone can eat whenever their schedule allows.
If you follow us on Instagram you might have noticed that we even tested it the other day in the fun lunch warmer crock. I can see the hubs taking this to work with him in an individual serving in the near future too.
BBQ Chicken Flatbreads
I threw this on the other day before we went to run in the mid-morning so it would be ready in time for lunch. All you do is pour your frozen chicken into your slow cooker and cover with the sauce. I cooked ours on low because we were going to be gone for a few hours, but you could also cook it up in an hour or so by turning it on high. That is the great thing about the chicken being pre-cooked. It will heat up nicely and still remain flavorful and juicy in the slow cooker.
Once we got home I threw the mini naan on the grill for 30 seconds on each side, although, you could just throw flatbreads or pitas in the microwave for a few seconds if you wanted to or if the kids are fixing it on their own. I then topped with spinach and the yummy chicken and garnished with french fried onions.
Slow Cooker Recommendations
Just about any slow cooker will work for this. I have made it in my 5 quart round and in my little 2 1/2 quart round. I also made that individual version in the lunch crock too. Just note that the larger the crock pot it is, you will likely need less time to fully heat up your chicken even on low.

This recipe is so simple I think I can get my 11 yr old to throw this together when he gets home from school and it will be ready when I get home from work…. brilliant. Would love more ideas like this! (On my way to get Tyson chicken strips tonight!)
I am really picky about meat I buy, so I have a question about the Tyson Grilled and Ready Chicken Breast Strips. Is this product “real” chicken (without fillers, etc) like it would be if I were to go to the meat market or store and buy a package of raw Tyson chicken breasts? I don’t buy meat of any kind that is chopped or pressed and formed together. I have wondered about this for a long time because I would love to have the convenience of precooked chicken around as a head start for a quick meal, but I have just been afraid to try it.
Hi Debbie! It is actually slices of chicken breast. So it has the same texture is not press formed or anything like that. Enjoy!
Thanks for the info! I’m putting it on my grocery list now!
