It is true… I have taken it upon myself to test out a bagillion hot chocolate recipes… I know, I know… it is a tough job but somebody HAS to do it.

And this one — from Gooseberry Patch’s Slow Cooker Fall Favorites (with a small but essential tweak from yours truly) is The BEST Hot Chocolate that I have ever had…

The BEST Crock Pot Hot Chocolate

It is so good that I would serve it in my coffee shop if I owned a coffee shop… which truth be told would be a really odd thing for me to own since I don’t like coffee BUT if I did find myself the owner of a coffee shop, that would be alright as long as I could serve this too because this is all I would want to drink anyhow.

Psst looking for our Crock Star Mugs? You can find them in our store :).

Now how about a recipe? Like most really great recipes, this one only calls for a handful of ingredients and yet it is OH-SO good!!

Ingredients for Crock Pot Hot Chocolate

  • 1½ tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 14 oz Can Sweetened Condensed Milk

How to Make Hot Chocolate in a Crock Pot

  1. Combine cocoa and salt together in the crock.
  2. Add vanilla and gradually pour in milk while mixing to combine well.
  3. Add sweetened condensed milk and stir well.
  4. Cover and cook on high for 2 hours.

Notes on Crock Pot Hot Chocolate

  • Looking for our Crock Star Mugs? You can find them in our store.
  • Any crock pot will cook this recipe up nicely. I personally prefer my automatic stirring slow cooker. It automatically stirs every two hours but for this recipe I just hit the manual button when I walk by it to stir things up nicely without ever having to open the lid!
  • Recipe adapted from Gooseberry Patch’s Slow Cooker Fall Favorites.
  • As with any of our recipes, calorie counts and nutritional information varies greatly depending on which products you choose to use when cooking this dish.
  • All slow cookers cook differently, so cooking times are always a basic guideline and should always be tested first in your own slow cooker and time adjusted as needed.
