How to Make Easy Shredded Pork in a Crock Pot

  1. Sprinkle steak seasoning liberally all over the pork shoulder.

  3. Shred with two forks OR place the roast in a stand mixer and mix slowly until shredded.

Notes on Crock Pot Easy Shredded Pork

  • We crocked this up in one of our favorite 6 quart slow cookers. (See this list of all our slow cookers.) But you can use any slow cooker your pork shoulder will fit into.
  • We cooked this up and then shredded it by placing it in our stand mixer while hot and stirring slowly until the consistency reached our desired amount of shred. Do not mix on high or leave unattended. If you don’t have a stand mixer, the roast will be tender enough to pull apart using forks. If it isn’t tender at first, cook a bit longer until it fall apart.
  • We served up on buns with bbq sauce. You could also use this meat in tacos, casseroles or quesadillas.
  • You can use pork loin instead of shoulder, but you may need to reduce your cooking time.
  • As with any of our recipes, calorie counts and nutritional information varies greatly depending on which products you choose to use when cooking this dish.
  • All slow cookers cook differently, so cooking times are always a basic guideline and should always be tested first in your own slow cooker and time adjusted as needed.

So you show a pork pork shoulder going into a crockpot and cooking for like 8 to 10 hours I have always preferred to have my pork shoulder slow cooked out on my grill would it be possible to slowly cook the pork shoulder out on the grill and then finish it in the crockpot in order to get that pull a part tenderness that Iโ€™m looking for but the nice slow smoked flavor of the grill?

  2. When you say steak seasoning does it come from a bottle or a packet/shaker.

      Hi Wendy-
We use a shaker. You can find all kinds of options in the spice aisle. Enjoy!

    Hi Marilyn-

Nutritional information will always vary depending on the exact products you use to make the recipe. For example, this recipe calls for steak seasoning. Different steak seasonings will likely have different levels of sodium depending on how much salt is used in the seasoning. My guess is you will probably want to find a salt-free alternative like Mrs. Dash, but even then it is always best to trust the labels on your products over any calculation you find with a recipe which will be a guess at best unless they tell you specifically which products they used and you use the exact same products. Hope that helps
