Instant Pot Hot Dogs In Bulk

Hey y’all! GOODe Ole Boy here!

A while back we showed y’all how easy it is to cook up a big batch of hot dogs using your crock pot.  In just a couple hours you had enough hot dogs to feed an entire baseball team (or two to three GOODe Ole Boys on a Sunday afternoon…)  Well, now I’m here to show you that you can do the same thing in your electric pressure cooker in mere minutes.   Yep, that wasn’t a typo… I said MINUTES!

Ingredients For Hot Dogs In Bulk In The Instant Pot

  • 20 to 30 hot dogs
  • 1 Cup water

How To Make Hot Dogs In Bulk In The Instant Pot

  • Pour water into the Instant Pot
  • Place hot dogs in the Instant Pot
  • Secure lid and make sure the vent is closed
  • Cook on low pressure for 1 minute
  • Quick release the vent to release the pressure

Notes On Making Hot Dogs In The Instant Pot

  • It will take approximately 15 minutes for the Instant Pot to reach pressure before cooking for one minute.
  • Our method was done using our 6 quart Instant Pot.  Other sizes/models may perform differently.
  • If you are using an 8-quart Instant Pot, you may need to use a half cup more liquid to make sure your Instant Pot will come up to pressure.
  • You can find more electric pressure cooker recipes with our Recipe Finder.
  • Check out all our favorite recommendations for cookbooks, slow cookers and low carb essentials in our Amazon Influencer Shop.
  • As with any of our recipes, carb counts, calorie counts and nutritional information varies greatly. As a result, your nutritional content depends on which products you choose to use when cooking this dish.
  • Finally, all electric pressure cookers cook differently, so cooking times are always a basic guideline. Recipes should always be tested first in your own electric pressure cooker and time adjusted as needed.

The magic happens by the way the pressure cooker heats up.  It’ll take 15 minutes to get up to temperature, then it holds that temperature for the 1 minute you programmed in.  Then you hit the quick release to let out all the pressure and your dogs are done!  I highly recommend NOT cooking your hot dogs under pressure for much more than that one minute.  We initially did a batch and cooked them for 5 minutes under high pressure.  Let’s just say that they were so soft that you could cut them with a wet feather…

Trick I learned from my uncle was to add to the water some beer, butter, and onions when cooking hot dogs on a stove or in a steam table. Would the beer mess up the pressure cooker?

Do you use a steamer basket or a sling in order to prevent the bottom hotdogs being in the water? I cook for a daycare and have to make 50 dogs…. I do have the 8 qt quickpot

      Hi Melissa-
We didn’t, but that is a great idea.It will also make getting them out of the pot without burning yourself a lot easier. Enjoy!
