How to Make Pork Chops and Cabbage in a Slow Cooker
Cris here.
Truth be told when I first whipped this up in our camper kitchen I wasn’t sure it would turn out. I was really concerned about getting the timing of the cabbage and pork chops right. Ya see, there are few things worse in the slow cooking world than a dried out pork chop and I knew I was going to need it to cook a while so my cabbage could get tender.
My solution? I used thick pork chops and cut my cabbage thin. It worked like a dream! And was the perfect homestyle meal after a day of exploring the Shawnee National Forest! (Click here for more photos from our adventures that day.) Did I mention just how useful my slow cookers are in my camper kitchen when we travel?!?
Ingredients for Crock Pot Pork Chops and Cabbage
- 3 lbs Thick Cut Boneless Pork Chops
- Steak Seasoning -to Taste
- 1 Small Head of Cabbage- Chopped thinly
- 2 Cups Chicken Broth
- 1 Stick Butter- sliced
Notes on Crock Pot Pork Chops and Cabbage
- Choosing thick chops and cutting your cabbage into thin pieces is important. The thick chops allow the pork to cook long enough for the cabbage to cook down and the small cabbage pieces will cook faster so that the pork doesn’t overcook.
- We used our 7 quart Cuisinart to cook this up, but this dish would do well in any traditional 6 quart slow cooker or even the casserole crock.

I’m not a cabbage fan. I’m wondering how it would be if I used a bag or two of the broccoli slaw instead.
My crock pot settings are High 4 or 6 hrs and my low settings are 8 or 10 hrs. Would i cook on high for 4 or-6 hours or low for 8 and check them at the 6 hr mark? Thank you
I would set it for low for 8 and check it at 6 hrs. Enjoy!!
