Cris here.

This One Pot Crock Pot Sausage Dinner from Gooseberry Patch’s Christmas at Grandma’s was a big hit at my house. My family LOVES smoked sausage and they were very happy this recipe made the cut when I was deciding what to try as we worked our way through this fantastic new cookbook. (Psst… there is still a little bit of time to enter to win this cookbook if you hurry.)

I got two thumbs up from both Miss Add (my 8 year old) and the hubs on this one.

One Pot Crock Pot Sausage Dinner Notes:

  • I used my favorite general use 6 qt slow cooker to crock this up!
  • If your family is a big smoked sausage fan, I would double the amount to 2 lbs.
  • The whole potatoes in this dish made for some occasional awkward eating. Next time I might chop them up a bit before dumping them in.
  • I have not tried this dish with fresh potatoes. If you want to give it a try, you will just need to adjust your cooking time to allow the potatoes to fully cook. I would definitely chop the potatoes and personally, I prefer a softer potato (reds/golds) to a harder potato (russet) in a dish like this.

My family loves this! I use regular potatoes cut into cubes. I’ve used can potatoes before. Same great taste, just with cubed potatoes, takes a little longer to cook. Thanks for sharing this recipe!!

I substituted frozen mixed veggies for the green beans, used chopped up baking potatoes, and added mushrooms and milk. I also only had a can of cream of chicken soup. The whole family loved it.

Made with cheddar Brats, used 1 can French style n 1 can regular green beans. Next time I’ll find something to kick up the spice level, needed something extra for more flavor, but that is very doable.

  4. 04-08-2017 made this One Pot Crock Pot Sausage Dinner for Sunday dinner & it was great. used Conecuh hot & spicy hickory smoked sausage. it gave it just enough hot flavor & didn’t have to add salt or pepper. this is a keeper & make agan.
lookin 4ward 2 makin this agan & will use french style green beans instead of cut green beans.

I know this is too late to help you, but we use one can cream of onion and one can French onion soup. That’s what we happened to have in the pantry, but we like the oniony taste.

  7. It’s a chilly, rainy day here in FL and I’d love to make this today. I only have mild Italian sausage and kielbasa on hand. Would either of them do?

    1. Hi Sharon!

Cris is away from her computer right now, but I talked to her, and she said your Kielbasa should work just fine. Enjoy!
