So, the pizza experts that we are just KNEW we had to try this cRockin’ recipe from Gooseberry Patch’s Everyday Comfort Food. I mean combining our love for slow cooker recipes with our love for the pie is a no-brainer really. We were just sad we didn’t think of it first!!
This is also a super quick recipe for a slow cooker recipe– done in 30 minutes on high!! That makes it GREAT for those hot summer days ahead. You can whip up a great meal in the evening without heating up the kitchen– and it is one of those dishes that the kids will love after a day of swimming or playing outside (can you tell I am craving warmer weather?).
Now this recipe calls for those yummy kluski egg noodles. I have tried it with kluski egg noodles and penne pasta. Both are wonderful! I really think it would be great with spaghetti noodles too! Also, the recipe calls for pepperoni but we are firmly in the sausage camp at this house, so I figure it is a lot like ordering pizza (which you’d think we’d never do since we make it so much… but we do… a lot) where you add in the toppings you like and substitute for those you don’t. Which also means that at the Goode house our Crock Pot Pizza Casserole totally has mushrooms in it too ;).
What You Will Need for Crock Pot Pizza Casserole
Ingredients Needed
- 1/2 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground sausage
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 jar mushrooms, drained
- 16 oz jar pizza sauce
- 15 oz can diced tomatoes with basil, garlic and oregano
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 12 oz pasta, cooked
Equipment Needed
- Large skillet and strainer or micro cooker
- Wooden spoon
- Pot and colander
- Spoon
- Measuring cup
- 6 quart slow cooker
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 20 minutes
- Cooking Time: 60 minutes on low or 30 minutes on high

Crock Pot Pizza Casserole
Ingredients
- 1/2 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb sausage
- 1 onion chopped
- 1 jar mushrooms drained
- 16 oz jar pizza sauce
- 15 oz can Diced Tomatoes with Basil Garlic and Oregano
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 12 oz pasta cooked
Instructions
- Brown sausage and beef with onion and drain.
- Add sauce, mushrooms and tomatoes and heat through.
- Layer half of your noodles in the 6 quart crock and cover with half the sauce and half of your cheese.
- Repeat layers.
- Cover and cook on high for 30 minutes or low for one hour or until cheese melts.
