My family LOVES these Crock Pot Cabbage Rolls. LOVES them. So much so, Miss Add takes them to school often and she raves about them so much she has classmates asking for the recipe so their moms can make them! The secret? The filling is none other than our amazingly good Meatball Parmesan recipe. I just mix up a batch of the meatball recipe and instead of forming meatballs, I fill and wrap steamed cabbage leaves around it and top with a little of our favorite (low carb) marinara and crock it up. Then we serve the cabbage rolls with sour cream to complete the dish. So easy and absolutely delicious!

Ingredients for Crock Pot Cabbage Rolls
- 12 Steamed Cabbage Leaves
- 2 lbs Lean Ground Beef
- 1 Cup Marinara Sauce- divided.
- 2 Tablespoons Dried Minced Onion or Freeze Dried Shallots
- 2 teaspoons Minced Garlic.
- 1 1/2 teaspoon Pizza Seasoning or Italian Seasoning
- 3/4 Cup Shredded Parmesan
- 2 Eggs
- Salt and Pepper to Taste
- Additional Marinara and Sour Cream
How to Make Cabbage Rolls in a Slow Cooker
- Mix together the beef, 1/2 cup of the marinara, dried onions, garlic, seasonings, parm and eggs. We like to use this food chopper to mix up ingredients like this.
- Place 1/12th of the mixture into each cabbage leaf and wrap like a burrito, placing in a 6 quart slow cooker or casserole crock seam side down, layering if needed.
- Spoon remaining marinara over each cabbage roll and cook on high for 4 hours until cabbage is tender and meat is cooked through.
- Serve with sour cream.
Notes on Crock Pot Cabbage Rolls
- This is a PERFECT recipe for the casserole crock. But if you don’t have one, a traditional 6 quart slow cooker will also work.
- Marinara sauces vary GREATLY in carb counts. This is our very favorite low carb pasta sauce , but it is expensive. If you are not eating low carb, I would use your favorite sauce instead.
- As with any of our recipes, calorie counts and nutritional information varies greatly depending on which products you choose to use when cooking this dish.
- All slow cookers cook differently, so cooking times are always a basic guideline and should always be tested first in your own slow cooker and time adjusted as needed.

Hi Chris, I want to try this recipe, but I don’t have a steamer for the cabbage leaves so what else can I use to steam them? And can I sub ground turkey for the ground beef ?
Thank you for all the yummy recipes
Hi DeAnna-
Check out William’s tip for freezing them in the comments. I am sooo trying that. You can also try just steaming them in the microwave for a few minutes until they become more flexible.
I haven’t tried ground turkey, but I would assume it would work. The end result may be a little drier depending on the fat content in your turkey, but let me know how it goes. Enjoy!!
Easiest way to get cabbage leaves for such use is to freeze the cabbage and then thaw. Once thawed the leaves come right off and are soft and pliable. Never thought this would work until I tried it. Will not do it any other way from now on.
Hi William!
Thank you so much for this tip!!!
