Cris here. We have loved making Aunt Lou’s Holiday Slow Cooker Rice Krispy Treats for years but recently when taping a video (see below) the idea hit me to try one of our favorite slow cooker accessories the next time I made them: Reusuable Silicone Liners.

Not only did it work for easy clean up, it made stirring the marshmallows and combining the cereal SO EASY. Count me as TOTALLY impressed. This will be the only way we make them from now on. It was so incredibly easy.

Ingredients for Crock Pot Rice Krispy Treats

  • 1/4 cup butter, sliced
  • 4 1/2 cups mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups krispy rice cereal

How to Make Rice Krispy Treats in a Crock Pot

  1. Turn your slow cooker on high and slice butter into a 6-quart slow cooker (using a silicone slow cooker liner is super helpful!)
  2. Cover and let sit for a few minutes so your butter can melt.
  3. Pour in your marshmallows, cover and let it sit for 5 minutes while your marshmallows melt
  4. Give your butter and marshmallows a good stir, cover for a couple more minutes
  5. Stir your marshmallow and butter mixture until most of the lumps are gone
  6. Add your cereal and stir until well coated
  7. Spray a 9×13 pan with cooking spray and place your cereal mixture in it
  8. Spray your hands with cooking spray and press your cereal mixture evenly into the pan
  9. Let them cool completely before cutting and serving

Crock Pot Rice Krispy Treats Notes

  • I highly recommend using a silicone slow cooker liner! It makes clean up a snap!
  • Do not be tempted to melt your butter in the microwave. Melting the butter in your slow cooker ensures your slow cooker is hot enough to melt the marshmallows properly.
  • Making rice krispy treats in your slow cooker is great for when you are traveling, don’t want to stand over a hot stove or when you don’t want to heat up the kitchen! It is also great for making them with kids!
  • As with any of our recipes, calorie counts and nutritional information varies greatly depending on which products you choose to use when cooking this dish.
  • All slow cookers cook differently, so cooking times are always a basic guideline and should always be tested first in your own slow cooker and time adjusted as needed.
