Aunt Lou here.

We had some delicious ham leftover when we went to Florida with our family. I was wondering what we could do with the leftovers. Then I remembered our Crock Pot Cheesy Hashbrowns recipe, and I knew that I wanted to use that recipe with the leftover ham. It was a great addition to our family dinner table!

How to Make Cheesy Ham Hashbrowns in a Crock Pot

Melt your butter in a sauce pan over medium heat. Add in your onions and saute until translucent. Take your saucepan off of your heat and mix in your sour cream. Mix together your thawed hashbrowns, cubed ham and 2 cups of shredded cheese in a large bowl. Salt and pepper to taste. Pour your butter mixture into your hashbrown mixture and gently mix until everything is mixed up evenly. Spread out your hashbrown mixture in a Casserole Crock or 6-quart crock pot. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.

Crock Pot Cheesy Ham Hashbrowns Notes:

  • I know there is a big difference between 2 and 4 cups of ham cubes. This leaves it up to you. If you want a super hearty dish, then add in 4 cups of ham. If you want it a bit lighter, then you can use less. Totally up to you!
  • I used extra cheese, but the recipe is written so you can decide just how cheesy you want these delicious hashbrowns.
  • As with any of our recipes, calorie counts and nutritional information varies greatly depending on which products you choose to use when cooking this dish.
  • All slow cookers cook differently, so cooking times are always a basic guideline and should always be tested first in your own slow cooker and time adjusted as needed.

      Hi Ed!

I don’t know what recipe saver you are using, but my guess is that it is clipping off the end of the title of the casserole recipe and confusing it with this dish.Unfortunately, if it isn’t a service on our site, our hands are tied with troubleshooting. I hope you get it figured out soon!
