Ingredients for Crock Pot Savory Beef Stew

  • 1-2 teaspoons oil
  • 1 lbs stew meat cubed
  • 6 potatoes peeled and cubed
  • 16 oz bag baby carrots
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 14.5 oz can stewed tomatoes
  • 1 oz ranch salad dressing mix
  • 1-2 cups water
  • noodles prepared

How to Make Savory Beef Stew in a Crock Pot

  1. Pour your oil in a skillet on your stove and heat with medium heat

  2. Add your cubed stew meat to the skillet and brown

  3. Pour your steak, drippings from the skillet and all your other ingredients (except for the noodles) into your 6-quart slow cooker (I used Sir Hamilton, my Hamilton Beach Programmable Insulated Slow Cooker), using the water to reach the consistency you want

  4. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours

  5. Serve over your prepared noodles (You can use narrow Amish Homemade Noodles like I did or your favorite egg noodle)

Crock Pot Savory Beef Stew Notes:

  • I used good ol’ Sir Hamilton (my Hamilton Beach Programmable Insulated Slow Cooker) for this delicious stew. Your favorite 6-quart slow cooker will work just fine.
  • I changed this recipe around to meet the needs of my family. We really like carrots and potatoes, so I upped the amounts and veggies and the amount of liquid to make up for the extra veggies. However, if you don’t need as many veggies, then you can reduce the amount of veggies and liquid. Make it your own!
  • As with any of our recipes, calorie counts and nutritional information varies greatly depending on which products you choose to use when cooking this dish.
  • All slow cookers cook differently, so cooking times are always a basic guideline and should always be tested first in your own slow cooker and time adjusted as needed.

Made this. Thought it would be on the salty side. It was not at all. I added chopped onion – celery – and fresh garlic. Excellent and easy.

I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed it! Your additions sound delicious!

  2. I have never heard of serving beef stew, potatoes and all, over noodles. At first blush, it seems like an awful lot of starch. But since I LOVE noodles, the more I thought about it, the better it sounded. Will definitely give it a try. Thanks for the idea since it would have never occurred to me to do it.
