How to Make Smoked Sausage Cabbage in a Slow Cooker
Cris here.
Hello comfort food! This dish is so easy and so yummy. My family enjoys this recipe so much. We are huge fans of cabbage dishes and this is a great one to throw in the rotation.
Finding Low Carb Smoked Sausage
If you are eating low carb like me, you might know that smoke sausage can vary quite a bit in carb counts. So, I wanted to share that the other day I discovered that the Sam’s Choice Beef Smoked Sausage (not sponsored) is significantly lower in carbs than other brands I have tried. The flavor is great and perfect in this dish, however it has a slightly different flavor. I think it tastes more like summer sausage than traditional smoked sausage. Regardless, my family LOVES it in this dish!
Crock Pot Smoked Sausage Cabbage Notes
- We have made this in a traditional 6 quart slow cooker and in the casserole crock. Depending on the amount of cabbage, the dish will likely take a bit longer in the casserole crock than a 6 quart. However, both types of slow cookers cook it up great.
- If you are counting carbs, you might want to read all the labels in the smoked sausage section of your grocery store. We have found carb counts can vary greatly. The brand we use is Sam’s Choice Beef Smoked Sausage. Personally, I think it tastes more like summer sausage than traditional smoked sausage. However, my family loves it.
- All slow cookers cook differently, so cooking times are always a basic guideline. Recipes should always be tested first in your own slow cooker and time adjusted as needed.

I’ve been using my ninja foodi more than my crockpot these days. Although I love your crockpot recipes, it would be awesome to see alternate directions for an Instant Pot listed in the recipe if possible. Thanks!! Love your site, recipes & fun videos!
