This recipe changed Mikey’s opinion on cherry cobbler… Check out his video here.
Did I mention that I LOVE when I can get him to eat–even love– a food that he at one time swore off?
This is just our basic cobbler recipe made with dark sweet cherries in heavy syrup. If you like this one, make sure you check out our pumpkin and peach versions.
Dark Sweet Cherry Cobbler
- I really like using our 6 quart oval slow cookers for cobblers like this. I feel like they set up better than using my casserole crock because the batter can really grab the edge of the pan and rise up in the ovals.
- If you don’t like dark sweet cherries, feel free to substitute red tart cherries.

Can use any kind of slow cooker or any kind of crockpot
Hi Vicki- Any 6 quart slow cooker should work. Enjoy!
I used 3 pints of preserved bing cherries and 1/2 the sugar. Turned out perfect and making it a second time as we speak. So simple!
So glad you enjoyed it!
I will definitely be trying this cobbler!
I use a terry dish towel to catch condensation. Holds more moisture. On a smallet crock I fol in half. Use on stews also, liquid stays thicker.
I so enjoy ya’ll.!
I wonder how this would turn out with frozen cherries. No syrup. My diabetes can’t do syrups.
I’m going to try it out over the weekend.
This sounds delicious am going to try this, thank you
