Grilled cheese and bacon
Roast and Veggies! Every Sunday we had pot roast made with potatoes, carrots and onion plus corn, green beans and cornbread. And of course sweet tea! Mama passed away 12/7/88 but I can still taste that roast! And to Shannon that commented earlier: ditto, I can’t make my mamas chicken and dumplings either and I sure miss them!
Fried taters, fried okra, black eyed peas & cornbread…my mouth is watering lol
chicken and dumplings
My MawMaw’s black eyed peas, collard greens, country style ribs with fresh cornbread. There would always be fresh sliced onions and tomatoes and a jar of cheyenne peppers, the vinegar sauce poured over the veggies and a pepper on the plate.
Chicken and Dumplings, for sure …… also LOVE collard greens!! AND fried chicken ….. AND corn bread …. my gosh! I’m sure I’d like ALL of the recipes!!
Sausage Gravy. mmmmmmmmmm
The peas, tomatoes, and corn bread on the cover remind me of home. They are my favorite.
old fashion ham and soup beans with cornbread, cannot beat that!!
corn bread and collard greens
Pot Roast is my favorite!! I didn’t really grow up with a lot of Down-Home cooking and as I grew up, I fell in love with it and have millions of Pot Roast recipes. My absolute favorite recipe is Mississippi Pot Roast!
My mother is a FABULOUS cook, but when I was growing up we never even owned a crockpot. (I myself have four!) The dish that reminds me of home? Chicken and dressing, which she made often … which is an odd choice for me, since my mama is from the Philippines and we ate a LOT of Filipino food … lol … but I always loved her chicken and dressing more than anything ๐
Chicken and dumplings for me. I still can’t make them like my mom.
I have been reading her blog for several years. I love her Frisch melt recipe.
Pork roast, sauerkraut, and dumpling with plenty of gravy. I couldn’t wait to go to grandma’s house on Sundays…she was the best cook. She also made the best Bohemian hoska bread. I love receiving the daily recipes. I use them all the time for our “Family Dinner Night” on Tuesdays. Thank you.
Pork chops, corn pudding, collards and fried apples. Yum!! Great Sunday supper or really anytime – just loved it!
Chicken and dumplings, a great way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon, and well worth the effort.
Fried Chicken and home made biscuits every Sunday!
Love the recipes that come in my inbox! Always looking for new dishes for the family! Great way to have awesome dinner after working all day!
Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans…
Home to me is beef roast with potatoes, onions and carrots; then some gravy on it.
My mother was German so I didn’t really grow up eating Southern, however, I am from GA so the love of Southern food is part of my soul!! My favorite Southern meal to cook is Chicken and Dumplings, black eyed peas, collard greens and cornbread. YUM!!
Everything on the front cover of the book reminds me of home!
Southern fried chicken and mashed potatoes with homemade chicken gravy takes me back to early 70’s when mama would fry tons of chicken for a crew to feed, remember walking home from friends house and you could smell it a few houses down and sneaking to stove and picking some crust off already fried chicken, still can see the plate of piled high chicken, those were the days.So good!
