Main dish to desert NOTHING say home like Southern cooking.

  2. Love the crock pot roast and veggies. I always think of home when I smell it cooking. It was the first thing I learned to cook when I was in the fifth grade. I would put it on right before church on Sundays and loved the smell when we returned back home.(P.S. I had 6 brothers and sisters so it was a fast easy meal too !!)

  12. In my last comment yesterday, I forgot to mention that my grandma used to make cracklin bread that was so good. She also used to make cream of wheat with butter in the mornings for me, because grits were not available yet in S. Calif in those days! When we lived in Baton Rouge a neighbor made turtle stew and invited us to dinner… I don’t eat just anything, but it was delicious! But my all time favorite Cajun/Creole dish has to be Jambalaya.

  13. Roast, potatoes and carrots every Sunday!

  14. Roast chicken with roasted carrots, rice & gravy & fresh green beans.

Wow…I must say most all of these recipes bring back the wonderful smells and memories of growing up on the farm. My mother was always cooking something when she wasn’t working. She had to feed 11 hungry kids who just didn’t know how to be patient. Lol
She taught me to cook as well as everything else but my love for cooking has caused me to be a collector of different kinds of cookbooks. I’d love to have a copy of this one to add to my collection. My most favorite meals was fried chicken, mashed taters, and sweet corn on the cob. Yummy! Makes my mouth water as this very moment. Lol
