When I was about 10 years old we visited a Great Aunt in Dothan and she made us a dinner casserole that had cabbage in it. For years after we went home I asked my Mom to make it and she said she would get the recipe from Aunt Jesse. Well it never happened and many many years later I discovered “Scalloped Cabbage” in a southern cookbook and just knew that was what we had 50 years ago. I made it and it is awesome and just as good as I remembered! One of my favorites now! Reminds me of her and Dothan!
Spam casserole–an of spam, cubed; celery; noodles & mushroom soup. Yum!
Homemade beef pot pie. Great crust on top and bottom with lots of veggies and gravy. It was soooooo good.
Granny’s chicken stew and her mac and cheese! Glad she taught me how to make it! A few hours in the kitchen and it’s like she’s right here again! ๐
Wild ride was always special. No matter how expensive it was at Thanksgiving time mom & grandmom always managed to put some on the table
My grammars peach cobbler
In the winter a large pot of homemade chili in the crock-pot
Yummuy lasagna!! My mom’s was the best!
My memories were of fried chicken, mashed potatoes and Frozen green peas. This was a favorite at my house growing up.

Greens, Black eyed peas , cornbread
Buttermilk Fried chicken and homemade Mashed potatoes. My Mom made this to die for Fried Chicken that was so good you would want to eat the bone. Then the buttery Mashed potatoes with sour cream added. I could eat a large bowl just for myself, but she would make us share at the dinner table.
My Mom used to make a pork roast with sauerkraut and we always seemed to have it on New Year’s Day, don’t remember why, but it seemed to be a tradition with my Mom, wish I had asked her why. Loved how the house would smell why it was cooking. Yummy!!
Years ago, my husband and our two daughters visited South Carolina. While we were eating in a lovely restaurant, my youngest daughter Kristi ordered Misssissip Mud Pie for dessert. It has been her favorite dessert ever since. I’m always searching for the best recipe for this scrumptious pie. I think I may just find it in what looks like a great cookbook. If I win it, the first thing I would make is Mississippi Mud Pie for my beautiful daughter!
Being a firm believer that potatoes are the ideal snack (as well as a #1 side-dish of course, LOL) just the recipe names alone of “Traditional Southern Style Potato Salad” and “Loaded Twice Baked Potato Casserole” had me salivating! My game plan for the family would be to make 2 crockpots each of these particular recipes and freeze the 2nd makings for thawing then a gentle reheating in the microwave. I do hope they’ll freeze well and stand up to the microwave reheat. My hubby’s birthday is the same day as the winner being announced, wouldn’t this recipe book be a great B-Day gift Yummy, yum, yums.

My crockpot is my most used cooking appliance. I make all kinds of stuff in it, and I love the site. Also would love a copy of that cook book
The Crock Pot Pork Roast and Veggies reminds me of home since my mom would make roasts for us on Sunday. Thanks for the chance to enter.

Smothered Crock Pot Beef Tips makes you warm all over just like Momma’s home cooking!
Pork chops, fried potatoes, cream corn and a pudding pie for dessert this meal takes me back to standing on a chair at my grandmas hip watching her cook for us Sunday after church. I miss her so!
Fresh peas just picked & shelled with stewed squash.
