How to Make Buffalo Chicken Wings in a Ninja Foodi
Cris here.
The other day when we shared our very popular Crock Pot Buffalo Chicken Wings recipe, readers began asking us for a way to make these incredible wings in an electric pressure cooker. So, we got in the kitchen and adapted the recipe. We love using our Ninja Foodi in particular for this recipe because you can do the optional broiler step in the Foodi! However, if you don’t have a Foodi, you can use any electric pressure cooker and then crisp up the wings in your oven broiler (or air fryer).
Why Pressure Cook Wings If You Are Going To Air Fry?
You might be asking yourself, why do we pressure cook these wings if we are going to air fry them to crisp the skin. The answer comes down to your preference for texture and tenderness. Pressure cooking chicken wings, much like slow cooking, produces a VERY tender wing but the skin is not crisp. The broiling or air frying step after pressure cooking allows you to have a very tender wing with crisp skin. Air frying alone produces a firmer wing that mimics the wings you would get at a wing restaurant. So, it all comes down to your personal preference and how much time you have.
Electric Pressure Cooker Buffalo Chicken Wings (Low Carb Option) Notes:
- Here is the Slow Cooker version if you do not have an electric pressure cooker: Crock Pot Buffalo Chicken Wings.
- We have tested this recipe in our Ninja Foodi but you can use any 6-8 quart electric pressure cooker for the pressure cooker step of this recipe and an air fryer or oven broiler if you desire the crisping step.
- If you are using an 8-quart Instant Pot, you may need to use a half cup more liquid to make sure your Instant Pot will come up to pressure.
- We made this recipe low carb by using a low sugar beer. If you do not want to use beer, you could also use chicken broth.
