Aunt Lou here.

This Smothered Crock Pot Beef Tips recipe is something that I could have seen Momma making when I was growing up. I grew up in a meat and potatoes house. Besides when we would have a family night to make our famous Benefiel Family Deep Dish Pizzas, I can’t remember a single time dinner didn’t involve some kind of meat and some kind of potatoes.

Well, the apple doesn’t fall from the tree. Michael and I both love meat and potato meals. If it were up to Michael, that would be all we would have!

These Smothered Crock Pot Beef Tips provide your meat and potatoes all in one pot! How awesome is that?!

I haven’t tried freezing this recipe after cooking it. I think the beef would be fine. However, I would be worried the potatoes may become mushy after reheating. If you give it a try, let me know how it goes!

Do I have to use cream of mushrooms soup? Or is there something else I can use instead 🤔?
    Please and thank you

I haven’t tried making this with a substitution, but think that cream of celery could work. If you give it a try, let me know how it turns out!

      Hi Leeann!

I haven’t used yukon gold potatoes in this recipe yet. If you give it a try, let me know what you think! Enjoy!

      Hi Mary!

Cream of mushroom soup comes in a 10 3/4 oz size. So you will just use one can of cream of mushroom soup. Enjoy!

Just made it, very good. I added some carrots, and some celery. I used frozen corn instead of canned. Since there was no fluid, i used a bit of white wine (Moscato). Added some nice complexity.

I just put this on to cook. Do you need to stir it together- or leave it layered?

You can give it a good stir and then leave it. Enjoy!

How long should it cook on low? I need to be able to put it in to cook before I go to work so hoping 8 hours isn’t too long.
