I just love recipes like this one. It cooks low and slow all day AND is freezer friendly! It is a great go-to beef sandwich recipe to keep on hand for company or better yet, to keep in the freezer for last minute guests!
How to Shred Slow Cooker Beef
Did you know that you could shred beef in a stand mixer? The process is very similar to how you shred chicken. All you do is place the meat in your mixer while hot and turn the mixer on. You just need to watch carefully so that it doesn’t over shred your meat. Below is a video where Mikey shows you how we shredded chicken using this same method!
Freezing Make Ahead Shredded Beef

You can put portions of this Crock Pot Sweet Savory Beef into freezer bags for quick meal prep in the future. All you have to do is bring the beef down to room temperature, and then portion it out into freezer bags. Push all air out of the bags before closing and freeze flat for easy storage. When ready to serve, remove from the bag and reheat in the microwave, skillet or slow cooker. Stirring occasionally to break up the beef.
What You Will Need

- 3.5 lb boneless beef roast
- 12 oz can beer
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 24 oz ketchup

- Medium bowl
- Measuring cup
- Stirring spatula
- Two forks or stand mixer
- 4 quart slow cooker or 6 quart slow cooker
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 5 minutes
- Cooking Time: 8 hours on low
- Shredding Time: 5 minutes

Crock Pot Sweet Savory Beef
Ingredients
- 12 oz can of beer
- 1 cup brown sugar packed
- 24 oz ketchup
- 3.5 lb boneless beef roast
- buns
Instructions
- Stir together beer, sugar and ketchup.
- Place roast in 4-6 quart crock pot and pour mixture over top.
- Cook on low for 8 hours.
- Shred and serve on buns.
