How to Make Garlic Butter Tilapia in a Crock Pot
Aunt Lou here.
If a simple to make, flavorful main dish that cooks up in about an hour in a crock pot sounds good to you and you love mild white fish, then you are going to want to try this Crock Pot Garlic Butter Tilapia. It is easy to throw together, cooks quickly, tastes great and was a huge hit in my house.
When I was researching how long to cook this recipe, I found many recipes that said the cooking time should be two hours on high. However, when I made this, I checked my fish with a meat thermometer at the one hour mark, and it was already done. So, if your slow cooker cooks like mine, your cooking time will be closer to an hour, but if your slow cooker cooks cooler, it may be closer to an hour and a half to two hours. You will want to watch this closely the first time you make it so you can know how long it takes in your specific slow cooker.

Crock Pot Garlic Butter Tilapia
Ingredients
Instructions
- Place a large piece of aluminum foil in the bottom of your casserole crock pot or 6 quart crock pot and press into the bottom of your insert so it makes the bottom of a packet.
- Put your filets in bottom of your packet.
- Stir together your melted butter and minced garlic and evenly pour over your filets.
- Sprinkle garlic salt and pepper over everything to taste.
- Close your aluminum foil packet. If your aluminum foil isn't large enough, you can use another piece of foil to make a top for your packet and crimp the edges of the bottom and top aluminum foil pieces together to form your packet.
- Cover and cook on high for 1-2 hours, turning your insert halfway through cooking if your slow cooker does not cook evenly. It is done when the internal temperature of your fish is at least 145 degrees Fahrenheit and the fish is white and flaky.
