How to Make Sloppy Joe Chicken in a Crock Pot
Aunt Lou here.
This Crock Pot Sloppy Joe Chicken recipe is a wonderful addition to your go-to recipe list! It is incredibly easy to throw together, and it tastes great. In fact, my nine year old picky eater has given this recipe her seal of approval! She even ate the leftovers happily!
You have some options with this recipe. It can be served on its own with some sides and be a great meal. You also can serve this recipe over a bed of your favorite rice or on a bun. The latter is my favorite way to eat this meal. Let me know in the comments what your preference is for this.

What You Will Need for Crock Pot Sloppy Joe Chicken
Ingredients Needed
- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, trimmed (If you prefer white meat, you can make this with chicken breasts. To keep the cooking time similar, I recommend cutting the chicken breasts into thigh size pieces.)

- 1 packet sloppy joe mix
- Optional: rice or buns for serving
Equipment Needed
- Sharp knife
- Board
- Can opener

- Measuring spoon
- Scissors
- Small to medium size mixing bowl
- Stirring spatula
- 3 Quart Slow Cooker OR 4 Quart Slow Cooker
- Two forks
- Optional: If serving with rice, you will also need whatever is required to make your favorite rice.
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 7 to 10 minutes (depending on how much your chicken needs trimmed)
- Cooking Time: 3 to 4 hours on low or 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours on high, turning your insert halfway through cooking if your slow cooker does not cook evenly
- Shredding Time: 5 minutes to use two forks to shred your chicken
