Aunt Lou here.
I needed to make something for our small group potluck and had no idea what to make. So I opened up the cabinets and saw a strawberry cake mix. Of course, I was instantly started thinking of how I could use my crock pot with this cake mix, and the result was this yummy Crock Pot Strawberry Cream Cake! Everyone raved about how good it was!
Crock Pot Strawberry Cream Cake
This is super easy to make! All you have to do is prepare your cake mix per the instructions on the box, whip up a quick cream mixture, pour in your cake mix, plop on your cream, swirl with a knife…bing, bang boom! Top it off with some cool whip and you have a dish that you won’t even have a crumb left of after a potluck!
Now as this cake is baking up, the cream part will look like it is shrinking and then disappear! It kinda scared me, but it doesn’t just up and walk away, all the creamy goodness is just hidden away inside!
Crock Pot Strawberry Cream Cake

Slow Cooker Recommendation
For this, won’t-bring-any-leftovers-home-from-a-potluck Crock Pot Strawberry Cream Cake, I used my 9 x13 casserole slow cooker made by Crock Pot. It is absolutely perfect for making up a cake or casserole or a whole lot of other recipes! (Can you tell I like my casserole slow cooker? 😉 )

Hi I just made this cake in my crockpot and smells delicious! I did the toothpick test and the edges look a little burnt but the rest looks great. Is the cream cheese supposed to be a tad gooey on the top when i poke the cake through?
Hi Maria!
It sounds like your crock pot cooks a little hot. When baking in the future, I would use a different slow cooker if you have one. The cream cheese is gooey, but the cake shouldn’t be. Make sense? I hope you enjoyed it!

I thought the same. I use the slow cooker mode on the pressure cooker and even after 5 hours it was still gooey. I put it in the fridge after it cooled down. It is very delicious though
I made this cake yesterday for my mom’s birthday.. it was such a big hit, so yummy.. it’s the second cake I have baked in the crockpot.. I did not use parchment paper this but I think I will for my next cake, my new go to way to cook cakes.. I have one question though, how can you keep the sides from over cooking?? inside was absolutely perfect.. Thank You for these recipes, i’m totally in love with my crockpot cooking I even got a bigger one for my birthday..
Hi Carol!
I’m so glad you guys enjoyed this recipe! As for the edges, make sure you use a crock pot that doesn’t cook hot. I also recommend turning the crock/insert about halfway through so that it will cook evenly even if you have hot or cool spots in your crock pot.
I hope that helps!
Aunt Lou
I turned my pot around so it didn’t burn. On one end.
Do you have to eat immediately? Can you store leftovers? In fridge or out if so?
Hi Kristen!
You can eat it immediately or as leftovers. I store the leftovers in the fridge. Enjoy!

I just got the small oval Crockpot Casserole (2.5 qt). Will this work for this cake recipe?
Hi Bea!
It might be too much batter. It would probably be better to use a larger crock. Enjoy!
Aunt Lou
I used a 4 qt crockpot and it came out really good. It was thicker than the picture shows on here.
Don’t forget to put paper towel on top before lid so moisture doesn’t drop down on cake and keep it wet.
Hi Wanda!
Thanks! That’s a very good reminder! Enjoy!
Aunt Lou
I have a regular crock-pot. Will the cake work in this?
Hi Ann!
Yes, I used to make cakes in my other crock pots before I got my casserole one. I usually make my cakes in a 3-4 quart slow cooker. Enjoy!

What do you think about adding strawberries on bottom?
Hi Leigh Ann!
If you want to add strawberries, I would slice up fresh strawberries and add them at the end on top of the cool whip. It would be super yummy AND look really pretty! I wish I would have thought of that! 😉 Enjoy!
Aunt Lou
Do you dump it out of the crockpot to put whip cream on it and serve, or do this all from inside the crock pot?
Hi Holly!
I topped with the cool whip in my casserole crock and served it straight from there! Enjoy!
Aunt Lou
I always like your site you got some great ideas .now on this cake do you take ur out of the slowcooker or keep it in if you take it out how without tearing all apart.it sounds good
Hi Violet!
Thank you so much! No need to take the cake out! Just top with your cool whip and serve! Enjoy!
