How to Make Homemade Shells and Cheese on a Stove Top

Aunt Lou here.

Dude…this Homemade Shells and Cheese recipe is so incredibly good, and there is plenty to feed a crowd. I made this while we were down at camp with the family, and it was a huge hit! The comments ranged from, “I am SO glad on days like this that I am not lactose intolerant,” to “This is amazing,” to “Forget the chicken I just made, I want THIS for a meal!” As you can tell, it was received extremely well. There was a total of nine of us, and this was a hearty side for all of us for one meal with enough leftovers to feed us all over again the next meal. So, when I say this can feed a crowd, I meant it!

I want to make sure we are all on the same page. This recipe use five different cheeses. None of these cheeses is Velveeta. We have cheddar, muenster, colby jack, parmesan and mozzarella. These are not creamy cheeses. So, if you are more of a creamy mac/shells and cheese person, I have a list for you at the bottom of this post. However, if you are wanting an ooey gooey, cheesy recipe that is packed full of flavor from the different cheeses, this is the recipe you want to try.
