When I made this Taco Shells and Cheese recipe in a crock pot, my family loved it, even my picky eater. (If you want to make this in your crock pot, you can find the recipe here.) So, it was no surprise that my family loved the stove top version of this recipe. Making this on the stove top gives you a super quick way to prepare this amazing, creamy dish.
With this recipe, you can choose if you want to serve it as a main or a side. If you have fewer people at your table, you can serve larger portions as your main dish. However, if you have a larger number of people to feed, you can make this same recipe and serve it as a hearty side dish since the servings would be smaller. As a main dish or a side dish, this yummy recipe is sure to please!
What You Will Need for Taco Shells and Cheese
Ingredients Needed
- 1.5 lbs ground beef, browned and drained
- 3 cups uncooked pasta shells, cooked and drained
- 2 oz taco seasoning (2 – 1 oz packets)
- 12 oz can evaporated milk
- 16 oz Velveeta, cubed
- 1/4 cup butter, sliced into thin pats
Equipment Needed
- Skillet and strainer or micro cooker
- Large pot
- Collander
- Measuring cup
- Can opener
- Butter knife
- Cutting board
- Stirring spatula
Time Needed
- Prep Time: Approximately 20 minutes, depending on how fast your water comes to a boil
- Cooking Time: 3 to 5 minutes on medium heat, stirring continually

Ingredients

- Mix all your ingredients together in a large pot and stir continually over medium heat for 3-5 minutes, until your sauce is smooth.
