How to make Pizza Penne in a Slow Cooker

Aunt Lou here.

As you all know, I am not a meal planner no matter how much I wish I was…I always seem to wake up Monday morning with a “uh oh” moment of having no idea what we will eat for the week. This recipe from from Gooseberry Patch’s Everyday Slow Cooker came to the rescue this week. It is quick, easy and oh so cheesy…which basically makes it a major win in our house.

I called Michael with a list of things to pick up from the store on his way home for lunch. Since it was more than three items, he had to make a list. Not sure why, but three is the magic number with him…three or less, he can remember. More than three and a list has to be made or he might not remember anything! At least he will stop by the store for me right? 🙂

I get a call…the call I usually always get from him when he has to stop by the store…with questions about what to get. You see, we live in a small town and don’t have everything available to us that most people do at bigger grocery stores. So here are the substitutions in case you can’t find the things we used. You can use rigatoni instead of penne, cream of tomato soup instead of tomato bisque and we used ground turkey just because that is what we had on hand. You can use ground beef if that is your preference. You really can make this dish your own.

Notes for Slow Cooker Pepperoni Pizza Penne

  • Serve this recipe up with a salad and some yummy garlic bread and enjoy!
  • This recipe is from Gooseberry Patch’s Everyday Slow Cooker.
  • We love the non-stick surface of this slow cooker  for recipes like this, however, any 5-6qt slow cooker will work just fine. If you are thinking about a new slow cooker, we recently purchased an all-in-one slow cooker that has a browning setting to allow you to brown your ground beef IN the crock pot. We have to tell you we think we’re am in love.

  • As with any of our recipes, carb counts, calorie counts and nutritional information varies greatly. As a result, your nutritional content depends on which products you choose to use when cooking this dish. The auto-calculation is just an automated estimate and should NOT be used for specific dietary needs.
  • All slow cookers cook differently, so cooking times are always a basic guideline. Recipes should always be tested first in your own slow cooker and time adjusted as needed.

      Dear Terry,

The soup referenced in the instructions is the 4th ingredient listed (tomato bisque).

      Enjoy,
      Aunt Lou
