How to Make Fried Chicken for Two in an Air Fryer
Aunt Lou here.
Cris made the original recipe that this Air Fryer Fried Chicken for Two recipe is based on. I always thought the original recipe looked good but had not tried it yet. Oh. My. Word. I am kicking myself for not trying it sooner. This fried chicken is amazing. It is crispy on the outside with juicy chicken on the inside.
This recipe was received with rave reviews in my house. I seriously doubt that we will ever go out for fried chicken again. This fried chicken is that good. It is also pretty simple to make and is not greasy. So those are all wins in my book! It is also cooks up quickly, so it works great for when you need a meal that takes less than 45 minutes to make.

Air Fryer Fried Chicken for Two
Ingredients
- 4 Chicken Legs
- 1/2 Cup Favorite Breading Mix
- 1 large Egg Beaten
- 1 tablespoon Bacon Fat or Lard
Instructions
- Beat 1 large Egg Beaten in a bowl and roll 4 Chicken Legs in the beaten egg one at a time.
- Pour 1/2 Cup Favorite Breading Mix into a gallon baggie, add chicken, seal and shake to coat.
- Add 1 tablespoon Bacon Fat or Lard to the bottom of your air fryer or Ninja Foodi and air fry legs in single layer forย 15 min at 360 degrees Fahrenheit. Do NOT stack chicken.
- Turn the legs over and cook for an additional 15 more minutes at 360, until the chicken legs reached desired crispness and the internal temperature is at lease 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
Notes
- Note: Nutritional content does not include breading. That content will depend entirely on the breading you choose to use.
- We used chicken legs. You can use other cuts of chicken if you don’t like chicken legs, cooking times may vary. Make sure your chicken’s internal temperature reaches at least 165. (To reach optimal tenderness, I prefer to cook to at least 170.)
- I do NOT recommend stacking your chicken in the basket. A single layer is always best to ensure the chicken cooks evenly.
