How to Make Chocolate Pretzel Treats in a Crock Pot

Aunt Lou here.

The combination of salty and sweet in these Crock Pot Chocolate Pretzel Treats is amazing. When I gave these to my family to try, everyone loved them. When I asked my 8 yr old what she thought of them, she said, “They are chocolatey, salty, sweet, crunchy and gooey! I love them!” I gave them a try right after this, and I do have to say that my girl hit the nail on the head. These delicious treats are all of those things. So yummy!

Like I said, these are perfect for taking to a potluck or for having as a treat at home. Not only do they taste amazing and come together really quickly, they are rich and filling. So, a 9 x 13 pan of these can be cut into 12 or 16 pieces. You can cut these into 12 pieces, but you will have large treats that may be too big for some people. If you cut the pan into 16 pieces, there will be more servings to go around, but they will still be big enough to be quite the satisfying treat!

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter sliced
  • 10 oz Mini Marshmallows
  • 2 cups broken pretzel pieces
  • 6 cups chocolate krispy rice cereal
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Turn your 6 quart slow cooker on high and put your sliced butter (using a silicone slow cooker liner is super helpful!).
  • Cover and let sit for about 5 minutes so your butter can melt.
  • Pour in your marshmallows and stir with a wooden spoon until your marshmallows are lightly coated in the melted butter.
  • Cover and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Spray your wooden spoon with cooking spray, stir, recover for about 3 minutes and stir until most of the lumps are gone.
  • Turn off your slow cooker and gradually stir in your pretzel pieces and cereal until everything is well combined.
  • Spray a 9×13 dish or food storage container with cooking spray and spoon your mixture into the dish/container.
  • Spray your hands with cooking spray and gently press the mixture down.
  • Let it sit for about 25 minutes, until it is completely cooled.
  • About 5 minutes before the treats are cool, pour your chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl or cup and heat for 30 seconds, stir and repeat until your chocolate is smooth.
  • Spoon your melted chocolate over the treats.
  • Cut and serve.
