How to Make Hornet’s Nest Cake in a Crock Pot
Aunt Lou here.
The other day my therapist told me about an interesting cake he had made and said he was interested in trying to make it in a crock pot. I told him I would give it a try, and now you have this incredible Crock Pot Hornet’s Nest Cake! With only four ingredients, this recipe is super easy to throw together, and it is not lacking in flavor. This recipe is so good that my family was happy when I made this twice in just a few days.
When baking in your crock pot, it is imperative that your slow cooker does not cook hot. If it does, the edges of your cake will be burnt before the center of your cake is set. I tried making this recipe in a 6 quart slow cooker and my casserole crock pot. I know both of these slow cookers do not cook hot. For both cakes, my edges were golden brown by the time the center of the cake was set. Just so you know, the pieces from the 6 quart were thicker than the pieces from the casserole crock because the batter was more spread out in the casserole crock pot.
