How to Make Pull Apart Pizza Bread in a Slow Cooker
Aunt Lou here.
This Crock Pot Pull Apart Pizza Bread that I adapted from Gooseberry Patch’s Tasty Fall Cooking is super yummy and a snap to throw together! If any of you are recipe-prep-challenged like I am, this one is still quick and easy!
Ingredients Needed for this recipe
- 1/4 cup dipping oil with garlic and basil (in our store it was called Mediterranean Dipping Oil)
- 2 13.8 oz tubes refrigerated pizza dough
- 8 oz pkg pepperoni slices
- 2 cups mozzarella shredded cheese
- 2 teaspoons – 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
Crock Pot Pull Apart Pizza Bread Notes
- This recipe was adapted from Gooseberry Patch’s Tasty Fall Cooking.
- I used Sir Hamilton, my Programmable Insulated Slow Cooker), but you can use any 6 quart slow cooker.
- Me and my kiddos like basic, so we went with just a pepperoni style pizza bread, but I’d bet you could make this with whatever your favorite pizza toppings happen to be!
- The original recipe called for garlic butter to dip the pieces in at the end. I couldn’t find any in our stores and haven’t figured out a good recipe for garlic butter yet, but you can usually buy them at your local pizza places. If you have a homemade recipe, let me know in the comments below!

Crock Pot Pull Apart Pizza Bread Recipe
Crock Pot Pull Apart Pizza Bread
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup dipping oil with garlic and basil (in our store it was called Mediterranean Dipping Oil)
- 27.6 oz refrigerated pizza dough (2-13.8 oz tubes)
- 8 oz pkg pepperoni slices
- 2 cups mozzarella shredded cheese
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Pour your dipping oil into a large bowl
- Tear your pizza dough into bite size pizza and toss them in the bowl with the oil (putting the oil in first and gently tossing the pieces as you go helps to keep them from sticking together)
- Place 1/2 of your coated pizza dough in the bottom of a 6-quart crock pot (I used Sir Hamilton, my Programmable Insulated Slow Cooker), top with half of your pepperoni and half of your cheese
- Sprinkle on your Italian seasoning, adding as little or much as you like depending on your personal preference
- Repeat layers
- Place a couple of paper towels under your lid, cover and cook on high for 1 1/2 - 2 hours, until the sides are golden and the center is done

Hi,
This looks yummy. Melt 1 stick butter in microwave with 1 (or more) scored garlic clove added. I have a ? though. I was told not to cook things in the slo cooker if there is no liquid in the recipe. What say you? Thanks
Hi Alyssa!
When cooking in a slow cooker, the moisture that is naturally in your ingredients is kept in the slow cooker (unlike in an oven where it can evaporate off), so this recipe works out beautifully! Enjoy!

Chef Shammy has a delicious Garlic Butter that lasts me a long time and can be frozen. Order online or through Sams Club. Nic to just have on hand.
i make it with a 1/2 cup of melted butter , a tbs of chopped garlic, and a half tsp of italian seasoning , and a tbs of chopped onion , mix together .
Garlic butter
1/2 c softened butter
1 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp dried parsley
Mix until blended
Thanks Kathy! I think that I have all those ingredients on hand! I might give it a try tonight!
Tastefully Simple Garlic Garlic is great to use to create garlic butter dipping sauce. Bring 1 cup of chicken broth to boil (reduce by half) add Garlic Garlic (a cap full) – cube Irish Butter and whisk into boiling broth. YUM!
Thanks DL! I’ll have to give this a try!
