How to Make Texas Chili in a Crock Pot

Aunt Lou here.

When it comes to chili, I know that people have some pretty strong opinions about how it should be made, depending on where you learned to make chili. This Crock Pot Texas Chili is a far cry from the chili I grew up on, but it is so delicious! What is even better is that it is super simple to make. It is pretty close to a dump and go recipe, which is always a plus in my book. And, with three pounds of stew meat, it is super hearty and filling on top of being quite tasty!

What You Will Need for Crock Pot Texas Chili

Ingredients Needed

  • 3 lbs beef stew meat
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • Red pepper flakes to taste
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 3/4 cups beef broth
  • 1/4 cup white onion, chopped
  • Garnish: sour cream, lime and avocado

Equipment Needed

Time Needed

  • Prep Time: 7 to 10 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 6 to 8 hours on low, stirring halfway through the cooking time, if possible, to help all the meat cook evenly (I do not recommend cooking beef stew meat on high. Cooking it low and slow will give you the most tender results.)
