I love my sweets…if you haven’t already figured that out. 😉 I’m sure you have also started to figure out that I love easy recipes too, so when I saw this Easy Crock Pot Caramel Pie in Gooseberry Patch’s Everyday Slow Cooker, I figured two of my favorite things had come together, so why not try it!

Easy Crock Pot Caramel Pie Notes:
- When I say it is easy, I mean it is eeeeasy! Seriously, to get this bad boy started, you just have to pour two cans of sweetened condensed milk in your crock pot, cover and cook on low. Doesn’t get much easier than that now does it?!
- I used Sir Hamilton (my Hamilton Beach Programmable Insulated Slow Cooker) for this recipe. I wasn’t sure what size to use on this recipe, but I knew I could depend on him to cook evenly, so I went with it. However, I think him being a 6-quart slow cooker contributed to my pie filling getting done really fast. I started stirring it at an hour and a half and it was done in two hours. If you don’t have a 6-quart crock pot, you can definitely use a smaller one, it will just make your cooking time differ. I know I say this all the time, but make sure you watch it closely the first time you make it so you can know how long it takes your slow cooker to cook the recipe. This is really important with every recipe, so I’ll just keep on sayin’ it. 😉
- I do want to let you know that this is the first recipe I’ve done in Sir Hamilton that I haven’t been able to spray the liner out clean with my kitchen sink sprayer. I had to *gasp* use a cloth to wipe everything out. Granted, it required absolutely no effort, but I wanted to note that since this recipe might stick to a normal crock pot pretty easily. You will want to wash the crock as soon as it is at a safe temperature to wash.
- Something else you should probably know, this pie is extremely rich. I am a sweet lover and rarely say something it extremely rich, but when I cut the first piece (about 1/6th of the whole pie), I had to share it with Michael. So I would recommend cutting the pie into 8 pieces or more.
- As with any of our recipes, calorie counts and nutritional information varies greatly depending on which products you choose to use when cooking this dish.
- All slow cookers cook differently, so cooking times are always a basic guideline and should always be tested first in your own slow cooker and time adjusted as needed.

Do you think this recipe would still work if I used a crock pot liner? I’m thinking that would essentially eliminate the mess.
Hi Alex!
I haven’t tried this recipe with a crock pot liner, but think it should work just fine! If you give it a try, let me know what you think. I am all about less mess!

Tomorrow I am attempting the Caramel Tart. My friends and family have decided to try at least 1 new recipe per week and then compare…
Hi Valerie!
That sounds like a great idea! I have a feeling you are going to be quite pleased to share this one! This one is so simple and absolutely divine! Enjoy!

Wow! I don’t normally buy sweetened condensed milk, but will just to try this recipe. Sounds too easy to be true, but since it is ‘you’, I will trust it. Thanks for all of the wonderful recipes. I have tried so many, and enjoy watching Michael’s videos, especially the Sunday ones. He’s a terrific singer. Love to you both and keep those Slow Cooker Recipes coming.
Hi Patricia!
I don’t usually have it on hand unless a recipe calls for it, but this recipe is definitely worth picking some up! Yum!
Thank you for trusting us! We love sharing the recipes that we love, and Uncle Mikey is a favorite around our house…in person and in his videos. 🙂
Enjoy!

Where does the caramel come in?
Hi Ron!
Cooking sweetened condensed milk is one way to make caramel at home. My parents have some friends who are Amish that taught mom to make caramel by cooking sweetened condensed milk in the can it comes in. It is pretty neat! Enjoy!

I love my Crock Pots…They are my best friends in the kitchen..This Caramel Pie recipe sounds delicious..What do you think about adding a little Sea Salt and making it a Sea Salt Caramel Pie? If I do when should I add the salt?
Hi Anita!
I agree! Crock Pots are the best! I haven’t tried adding Sea Salt yet, but that is a great idea! If I were to add it, I would try adding a dusting to the top of the pie once it is in the crust. Let me know how it turns out! Enjoy!

Can I add apples to the Caramel Pie? I have some apples my husband picked off the tree.
Hi Candy!
I have not tried adding apples, so I am not sure how the milk would cook up with apples in it. However, you could make the Crock Pot Baked Apples (with or without the raisins and nuts…whatever you prefer) with diced apples and use them as a topping for the pie. (Watch the apples closely the first time because the smaller apple pieces will most likely cook up faster than the original recipe.) Let me know what you decide to make and how it turns out! I would love to know. Enjoy!
Aunt Lou
I can’t understand why you don’t have to add any caramel into the receipe.
Hi Joel!
Cooking sweetened condensed milk is a way to make homemade caramel. It is so simple and delicious! Enjoy!
