We recently tried these Homemade Sloppy Joes from Crock Pot’s 365 Year-Round Recipes and I totally fell in love with them. I really love the flavor of this recipe. I did alter the cooking time which I think is key to really getting the most flavorful result.

Notes on Homemade Sloppy Joes (Slow Cooker)
- We used our Ninja to cook up this recipe to keep the cooking all to one pot.
- The original recipe in Crock Pot’s 365 Year-Round Recipes called for the dish to cook on low for 6-8 hours, however we found it to be perfect after 3-4 hours on low and overcooked (and less flavorful) after 6 hours.
- This recipe freezes well.
- As with any of our recipes, calorie counts and nutritional information varies greatly depending on which products you choose to use when cooking this dish.
- All slow cookers cook differently, so cooking times are always a basic guideline and should always be tested first in your own slow cooker and time adjusted as needed.

What kind of vinegar do you use?
My mother loved it but I personally thought it was too sweet for my taste. I definitely do not think the brown sugar is needed.
Hi LL-
Unfortunately not every recipe is everyone’s cup of tea, but glad to hear your mother enjoyed it.
Nothing better than a Slow Cooker of Sloppy Joes for a ballgame bunch! Hope you are having a great week and thanks so much for sharing with us at Full Plate Thursday!

Thanks for stopping by Miz Helen!
I love sloppy Joes but haven’t had one in ages. Sounds good, just need some good COLESLAW to go on it! Tell Mikey to get to work on his momma’s slaw! LOL Pinned it to try!
Thanks Kim!
I see a lot of your recipes you brown your meat, however, in the Salisbury steak one you didn’t. Could this sloppy joe recipe be the same where you just put in the raw meat and cook longer?
Hi Rhonda-
I wouldn’t recommend it because you will want to drain your meat after it cooks before adding the sauce. I’m afraid skipping that step might give them an oily mouth feel… The Salisbury steak works more like meatloaf because the end result is a patty. However, if you do give it a try, I’d love to hear how it goes!
