It was tailgate food night again in our small group. It is always a night of a lot of delicious recipes. I love all the different dips, sandwiches, meatballs, veggies and desserts. Now me? I’m a big fan of dips, and tailgate food night is about the only time I get to whip up a yummy dip. When I found this Hot Crab Dip, I couldn’t wait to make it.
Hot Crab Dip
I love how easy it is to throw this Hot Crab Dip together. You see, I was running short on time. Shocker, I know. But it actually wasn’t my fault this time!
We had church until almost noon, then needed to grab a quick lunch, get Ryder down for his nap, get this dip thrown together and create a last minute birthday present for the birthday girl whose birthday party we had to be at by 3:00. Since our small group started immediately following the birthday party, I needed a recipe that was quick and easy.
The pet rock took some time to put together…it was complete with blue eyes, nose, mouth, hot pink headband and hair in a ponytail! The birthday girl – Ryder’s best friend – and her mom – my best friend – loved it. I was quite pleased with the end product. It was well worth the extra time to see the smile on the birthday girl’s face…and to see her petting it. You have to love how easy it is to please a four year old!
Everyone loved this dip and raved about how much it made them want crab legs. The flavor of this dip was amazing! I can’t wait for an excuse to make it again!
Hot Crab Dip
- 16- oz pkg imitation flake-style crab meat chopped
- 2 8- oz pkgs cream cheese cubed
- 1/2 c butter sliced
- 1 T fresh chives chopped, plus extra for garnish if desired
- 2 T Worcestershire sauce
- crackers or melba toast for dipping
- Mix together everything in your crock pot (minus the crackers or melba toast...save those for dipping)
- Cover and cook on high for 2 hours
- Stir well after 1 hour
- Stir again at the end of the two hours
- Sprinkle with chopped chives if desired and serve with crackers or melba toast
Slow Cooker Recommendations
We love the 3 Pot Buffet Slow Cooker for dips like this, although any 2-3 qt slow cooker should work just fine. If you don’t have a smaller slow cooker, you can always place a heat safe bowl inside of your crock to create a smaller cooking vessel.
