Old Bay seasoning and chicken just go hand in hand in this house, and we absolutely love the chicken leg version of this recipe. So, it just made sense to me to try it out with a whole chicken. And now, I am happy to give you this Old Bay Crock Pot Whole Chicken recipe!
This is a great recipe when you need to get a recipe in the crock pot quickly. There are only three ingredients, so you can grab all the ingredients quickly and have this recipe ready to go in just minutes. This is also a great recipe for someone who is new to cooking. The prep is super easy, and the crock pot does all the work for you. I love a recipe that is good for new and seasoned cooks alike!

What You Will Need for Old Bay Crock Pot Whole Chicken
Ingredients Needed
- 5 lb whole chicken
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
Equipment Needed
- Butter knife
- Cutting board
- Measuring spoon
- 6 Quart Slow Cooker
- Meat thermometer
- Optional: parchment paper, baking sheet, heat safe kitchen gloves
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 5 minutes
- Cooking Time: 5 to 7 hours on low or 2 hours and 30 minutes to 3 hours and 30 minutes on high, rotating your insert halfway through the cooking time, if your slow cooker does not cook evenly

Old Bay Crock Pot Whole Chicken
Ingredients
- 5 lb Whole Chicken
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 tablespoon Old Bay
Instructions
- Place a 5 lb Whole Chicken in the insert of a 6 Quart Crock Pot.
- Pour 1/2 cup melted butter evenly over the chicken.
- Sprinkle 1 tablespoon Old Bay evenly over the chicken.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours, rotating your insert halfway through the cooking time, if your slow cooker does not cook evenly. It is done when the internal temperature of the chicken reaches at least 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
- If desired, carefully remove the chicken (it will be hot enough to burn you) from the insert and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and broil for approximately 2-3 minutes, watching continually, until the skin reaches desired browning and crispness.
