How to Make Peanut Butter Swirl Brownies in a Crock Pot
Aunt Lou here.
Peanut butter and chocolate just go together, in my humble opinion. So, these Peanut Butter Swirl Crock Pot Brownies make sense…again, in my humble opinion. 😉 The chocolate and peanut butter flavors just meld together perfectly to give you a rich and flavorful brownie.
When baking in a crock pot, you want to make sure you are using a crock pot that you know well. (I don’t recommend trying out a new crock pot recipe on any “baking” recipe for a crock pot since you don’t know if it cooks hot when you first get it.) It is imperative your crock pot does not cook hot. If you use a slow cooker that cooks hot, the sides will burn before the center completely bakes. However, with a crock pot that does not cook hot, your center will be able to bake up fully at the same time the sides do, and you will have a delicious treat for yourself and those you love.
What You Will Need for Peanut Butter Swirl Crock Pot Brownies
Ingredients Needed
- 18.5 oz milk chocolate brownie mix, prepared (Do not use a fudge brownie mix. A fudge brownie mix is too moist and will not bake up properly.)
- 3/4 cup smooth peanut butter
- cooking spray
Equipment Needed
- Measuring cups
- Mixing bowl and stirring spatula (or stand mixer)
- Stirring spatula
- Spoon
- Butter knife
- Paper towels
- 6 quart slow cooker or casserole crock pot
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 10 minutes
- Cooking Time: 2 to 3 hours on high, turning halfway through the cook time if your slow cooker does not cook evenly.
General Notes
- Make sure you use a slow cooker you know does not cook hot. If your slow cooker cooks hot, the sides will burn before the center is able to bake completely.
- The cooking time is for two to three hours. My brownies were done right around 2 hours and 10 minutes. Watch it closely the first time you make it so you don’t burn the edges.

Instructions
- Pour your prepared brownie mix batter in a lightly greased casserole crock pot or 6 quart slow cooker.
- Use a spoon to put dollops of peanut butter evenly across the top of the batter.
- Take a butter knife and swirl the peanut butter throughout your brownie batter.
- Take a tea towel or paper towels and put it tightly under your lid on top of the insert, so that the towel does not droop in the middle. If it touches the center, the center will not bake properly.
