How to Make Beefy Mississippi Tater Tots in a Crock Pot

If you haven’t guessed by now, we love tater tots in this house. We have a whole library of different tater tot recipes that you can find here. We also love Mississippi recipes. You can find all of our Mississippi recipes here. So, I thought I would try making two of our favorite recipes types together. Now you have these yummy Crock Pot Beefy Mississippi Tater Tots!
This recipe is really simple to make. If you want to make the prep for it even faster, you can always use our Crock Pot Make Ahead Ground Beef. We love having ground beef already cooked up and on hand for fast prep for recipes just like this one. It really does make putting a recipe together so easy!
What You Will Need for Crock Pot Beefy Mississippi Tater Tots
Ingredients Needed
- 2 lb ground beef, browned and drained
- 1 oz packet brown gravy mix
- 1 oz packet ranch dressing mix
- 1/2 cup butter, sliced into pats
- 32 oz bag frozen tater tots, kept frozen
- 6 pepperoncinis
Equipment Needed
- Skillet and strainer or micro cooker
- Meat chopper
- Butter knife
- Cutting board
- Casserole crock pot or 6 quart slow cooker
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 15 minutes
- Cooking Time: 2 hours on high, turning your insert halfway through cooking if your slow cooker does not cook evenly
- Optional Broiling Time: 3 to 4 minutes, watching continually until your tater tots reach desired browning

Crock Pot Beefy Mississippi Tater Tots
Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground beef browned and drained
- 1 oz brown gravy mix packet
- 1 oz envelope Ranch dressing mix.
- 1/2 cup Butter sliced into pats
- 6 pepperoncinis
- 32 oz frozen tater tots kept frozen
Instructions
- Spread your ground beef out evenly in the bottom of a lightly greased casserole crock pot or 6 quart crock pot.
- Sprinkle your mixes evenly over the ground beef.
- Place your butter pats evenly across the top of the beef and mixes.
- Spread your tater tots out over everything and place pepperonicinis evenly across top of the tater tots.
- Cover and cook on high for 2 hours, turning your insert halfway through cooking if your slow cooker doesn't cook evenly.
- If browned tots are desired and your insert is broiler safe, broil on high for 3-4 minutes. (Do NOT walk away while your insert is in the broiler. Watch it constantly so that you do not burn your tater tots. They can go from perfectly golden to burnt quickly.)
