Aunt Lou here.
This recipe is a goodie folks! You are going to love it! I have taken our reader favorite Taco Crock Pot Tater Tot Casserole and made some super yummy changes. For one, I added in an extra pound of ground beef. This will “beef up” the recipe (get it? lol) to make it more filling. This will make the recipe last longer meaning you get more bang for your time spent cooking and for your dollars spent on ingredients! It is a win win situation!
Now if you have made the Taco Crock Pot Tater Tot Casserole, you will see that I have changed up how things get put together. My hope was to make it a little easier to make this recipe and make it so you have less dishes to wash afterwards. Again, that is a win win in my book! I love cooking (especially easy recipes!), but am not such a big fan of the cleaning up process.
A there are a couple of fun additions to this recipe. The refried beans take the flavor up a notch and give this casserole more of a burrito feel. Actually, this is really great on burrito tortilla! Super yummy! And if you are a person who loves a little crunch, the Chili Cheese Fritos in this recipe are going to make you swoon! Not only do they add a great crunch, they add yet another wonderful flavor.
This recipe is seen as a real treat in my house. I am sure your loved ones will enjoy it greatly as well! Once we are all able to meet together again for potlucks, tailgate parties and game day parties, this Crock Pot Chili Cheese Tater Tot Casserole will be one of your go-to recipes, I am sure!

Could you use frozen french fries instead of tator tots?
Aunt Lou says
Hi Carolyn!
I haven’t tried it that way, but think it could work! If you give it a try, let me know how it turns out!
