How to Make an Oreo Lava Cake in a Slow Cooker
Aunt Lou here.
This Crock Pot Oreo Lava Cake became an instant family favorite in our house. Not only is the taste wonderful, it is fun to put together as a family.
When the kids saw the Oreos come in the house, they were excited. When they were told they were not allowed to dig into them, they were not so happy. lol You see, they know when I say, “Mommy needs it/them for a recipe,” whatever “it” is is completely off limits. However, when I asked if they wanted to help Mommy in the kitchen, they were excited again! While I set to work putting the ingredients together for the cake batter, I had them crushing up Oreos in baggies. It was the perfect way for them to help! They had so much fun doing it!
Before you get to the recipe, I want to give you a heads up. The ingredients list is long. Do NOT let that scare you. It is long because you are making a cake from scratch, but it is super easy. Just follow the steps, and you will be good to go.
If you have never made a lava cake before and are used to making traditional cakes, let me warn you, this will look very different. Your cake batter will not be seen when you put your lid on your slow cooker and start your cooking time. Don’t worry, it will be fine. That liquid on top will become your delicious lava underneath by the time your cake is done! If you notice in the picture at the bottom, my lava created a volcano while my cake was cooking. If this happens to you, never fear! It still turned out wonderfully!
